29 January 2025
The Board of Directors of the Cyprus Association of Research & Development Pharmaceutical Companies (KEFEA) held a meeting on 29 January 2025 and decided as follows:
- With regard to section 19.9 of its Code of Conduct, KEFEA has made the decision to renew its white list of 5* hotels in Cyprus, in which KEFEA members may hold and sponsor events, should they wish to do so.
- The renewal of the white list was considered necessary due to the paucity of suitable 4* hotels in Cyprus for holding such events. The paucity arose from a lack of appropriate conference rooms and lack of appropriate technological infrastructure.
- The white list was initially established on 4 February 2022, was revised on 15 December 2022, and renewed on 31 January 2024 and 29 January 2025.
- In light of the above, KEFEA has considered that the following hotels, whilst being 5* establishments, are in line with the provisions and the spirit of the Code:
- Nicosia
The Hilton
- Limassol
Amathus Beach Hotel
Grand Resort Hotel
St. Raphael
- Larnaca
Golden Bay Hotel
Radisson Blu
- Paphos
Azia Beach Hotel
Leptos Coral Beach Hotel
- Healthcare organisations (HCOs) as well as congress organisers continue to be able to use any other hotel or venue they wish, and follow the procedure in the KEFEA Code of Conduct for applying for an exemption.
- KEFEA clarifies that during the tourist season, congress organisers should avoid organising events in popular tourist areas.
- KEFEA reiterates that with respect to the white list, all other provisions in the Code are to be adhered to faithfully (especially the applied thresholds for accommodation and meals or dinners).
- The white list will be abolished at the end of 2025 and a new evaluation process for examining requests for exceptions to hold events in 5* hotels will be announced by the end of March 2025.
